News from Appenberg

With a passion for detail, we’re renovating the heart of Appenberg in the Emmental. Solar roofs, modern technology and historic buildings come together to create a vibrant village with space for connection, creativity and growth. Follow our milestones and stories as we work toward reopening in 2027.

Appenberg will be back for you soon!

On February 5 and 6, 2027, we invite you to our open house. Two days to explore, be amazed, reconnect, and meet new people.

A lot has happened at Appenberg in recent months. Some familiar features have remained, new ones have been added, and our hotel village has continued to evolve. Now it’s time to open our doors soon and show you what we’ve created with passion, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Stroll through the houses, discover new and familiar corners, and experience Appenberg just as we envisioned it: as a vibrant gathering place where people enjoy coming together, lingering, and feeling a little bit at home.

Of course, no visit to Appenberg is complete without some cozy get-togethers. That’s why these two days are not just about exploring—they’re also about enjoying yourself, chatting, and raising a glass. The exact program is still being finalized. But here’s what we can already reveal: There’s plenty to discover—and plenty of good reasons to stay a little longer.

So: Mark the date in bold on your calendar and come on by. We’re really looking forward to seeing you—and to finally bringing the Appenberg back to life. Until then: Set aside February 5 and 6, 2027, and start getting excited.

Appenberg Is Transforming

The future grows out of history.

In collaboration with GHZ Architekten and more than 50 specialized contractors—preferably from the local region—the new Appenberg is taking shape step by step. Seven historic houses are being carefully renovated, with their facades gently restored and complemented with woodwork. Paths, plazas, and gardens are being designed to make it easier to find your way around and to make spending time outdoors even more enjoyable.

The center is opened.

In the main building, we’re creating a sense of clarity and spaciousness. A careful demolition makes way for a contemporary addition. The restaurant and reception area are being redesigned. The attic will be transformed into a hall for special events. An open bar, a cozy lounge, and bright spaces in the foyer blend arrival, interaction, and relaxation. Co-learning zones and harmonious outdoor areas foster togetherness, focus, and creative breaks.

The Infrastructure of the Future.

Following the renovation, the hotel will feature 48 guest rooms, eight seminar rooms, and eight group rooms, as well as a fitness area. In addition, there will be a restaurant and terrace, each seating 80 guests, two banquet halls, a bar, a lounge, the Fondue Spycher, and a spacious wine cellar. All work spaces will be equipped with the latest technology, modular furniture, and improved soundproofing. Hotel and seminar facilities are clearly separated yet operate in close proximity. Outside, there will be quiet retreats such as the herb garden and gathering areas like the village square.
New additions include a banquet hall on the top floor for private celebrations and a mobile seminar room set amidst the greenery.

Outdoor Spaces and Accessibility.

The grounds of the hotel village are also being redesigned to significantly enhance social interaction and the quality of the guest experience. We are improving accessibility for all guests. New paths will connect different areas of the grounds, and access routes with a maximum slope of 12% along with additional entrances will improve wayfinding, safety, and comfort for everyone.
